KINETIN FAQ

WHAT IS KINETIN?

Kinetin is a plant-based, naturally occurring, non-irritating growth factor extract (also known as N6-furfuryladenine) that has been shown to significantly reduce free-radical damage and photo-aging. Also found in the human body, it is produced in our cells as a protective response to oxidation.

WHAT BENEFITS WILL I SEE FROM USING KINETIN PRODUCTS?

An anti-aging ingredient, kinetin reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It also improves skin texture and diminishes the appearance of freckles, brown spots and blotchy, uneven-colored skin. Kinetin has clinically been shown to improve the skin barrier function, allowing the skin to retain up to 25 percent more moisture, helping the natural renewal process, and maintaining a healthy moisture balance.

HOW WERE THE BENEFITS OF KINETIN DISCOVERED?

The anti-aging benefits of kinetin were first discovered in leafy green plants, where it effectively prevented aging in plant leaves. This led to further studies on the anti-aging benefits on human cell cultures. Kinetin was found to be highly effective in reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and redness while improving overall skin texture.

IS KINETIN SIMILAR TO ALPHA HYDROXY ACIDS, RETINOIDS OR OTHER PEELS?

No, kinetin should not be confused with any acid-based treatments or exfoliating ingredients. Kinetin is used to restore moisture barrier function and protect the skin from the damaging effects of free radicals. Unlike some of the harsher acid-based treatments and exfoliating products, kinetin is virtually side-effect free.

DOES KINETIN PROTECT AGAINST UVC RAYS?

Yes it does. And as the earth’s protective shield is increasingly compromised, we are now at risk of exposure to these carcinogenic rays. Most sunscreens provide no protection against UVC rays—only UVA and UVB. Sunscreens with kinetin protect against all types of UV radiation. Kinetin also protects the skin by improving its natural moisture barrier and by neutralizing free radicals.

I HAVE VERY SENSITIVE SKIN. CAN I STILL USE KINETIN PRODUCTS?

Kinetin products are perfect for those with sensitive skin. It works without exfoliating, and you won’t see the irritation that often accompanies alpha hydroxy acids or retinoic acid products. Rather, it works to restore the natural moisture barrier function of the skin. It also has anti-inflammatory properties, which make it ideal for those with sensitive skin.

WHAT ARE THE RESULTS OF KINETIN’S CLINICAL TRIALS?

In a 52-week human trial conducted at the University of California, Irvine, kinetin was shown to reduce signs of photodamaged skin; improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles; and diminish the appearance of hyperpigmentation and skin roughness. Nearly 100% of those studied showed an overall improvement.

HOW DOES KINETIN AFFECT SKIN MOISTURE?

Kinetin has been shown to increase skin barrier function by as much as 25 percent. By assisting the skin to retain this additional moisture, the impact in the feel and appearance of your skin is quite dramatic.

HOW LONG UNTIL I SEE VISIBLE RESULTS FROM USING KINETIN?

You can expect to notice a difference in skin softness and moisture retention in as early as 2 weeks of continuous kinetin use. And while each person’s results may vary, you can be sure that with extended use, you’ll notice visible improvement in the appearance of your skin, including wrinkles, age spots, fine lines and skin roughness.
